Two fantastic historical feasts today:
1) The First Oktoberfest! On October 12, 1810 Bavarian royalty invited the citizens of Munich celebrate of the marriage of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.2) Wiccans rejoice! This date in 1692 marked the end of the Salem Witch Trials. An official letter from Massachusetts Governor William Phips put the kabosh on the whole thing.
Another holiday from the all too often ignored French Republican Calendar. It's Hemp Day! (the twenty-first day in the month of Vendémaire.)
I'm sure someone somewhere is celebrating what could be Wikipedia only holidays, Freethought Day (US) and/or National Coming Out Day (UK)
menus to come...
